Meet Mrs. Mesick

Welcome!

Hello, Everyone!

My name is Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mesick and I have the privilege of being a Centre Hall-Potter Elementary fourth grade teacher for this school year.

I am from a tiny town in New Jersey called Point Pleasant Beach. When I graduated high school, I attended Susquehanna University and received a degree in Philosophy and went on to pursue a Master of Arts in Philosophy from Durham University in the UK. I then moved to Colorado with my husband, Paul. Later our child, Al, came along. In 2015 we decided that we had had enough snow and moved to State College, my husband’s hometown.

We now live in Park Forest with our dog, Arlo, and two cats, Obi and Quentin. My whole family enjoys reading and being outside, as well as being a geek for DIsney, Doctor Who, Star Wars, etc. We often play games together as a family and love to go see shows and ride coasters.

While living in Colorado, I taught in a school in the high country for 12 years.  At that school, I taught in grades 2, 4, and 5. In my former school in State College, I taught fourth grade, first grade, and served as the school’s reading interventionist.

Fourth grade has always been my favorite and I am so lucky to be back! I love reading aloud to students and believe that fourth graders can get so much from picture books and chapter books. I encourage all students to grow with me by asking questions and trying to achieve their personal best. My classroom is a safe place to make mistakes and to discover new things.

It is with an open heart and mind that I welcome you to this school year.
