About Me
My name is Murphy O’Brien and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to spend the rest of the school year in 3rd grade! I am originally from Selinsgrove, PA, where I attended Selinsgrove Area School District and graduated in 2023. I am a recent graduate of Penn State University, where I earned a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, as well as a minor in Special Education. While at Penn State, I completed my student teaching at Ferguson Township Elementary School in a second grade classroom. Throughout this time, I often returned to Selinsgrove Area Elementary School to work as a substitute teacher in many different grade levels.
Outside of school, I enjoy sports, traveling, and spending time with my family. My passion for sports, specifically basketball, has led me to join the State College High School Girls coaching staff. This season, I have taken the role of Head Coach for the freshman team, as well as an Assistant Coach with the varsity program.

As I am blessed with the opportunity to work with the students in my classroom, I strongly encourage and center my teaching off an approach that is grounded by teamwork. In order to reach the greatest level of success and growth, I look forward to working with both students and their families! The best way to contact me throughout the day is through email, [email protected].
I am so excited to get started and spend the rest of the school year at Centre Hall!
